Training & Learning

Dear Professionals,

In todays competitive world everyone has to upgrade themselves by learning more and more. So check out few of the quotes which are really very interesting and which specifically relate to training & development :-

The illiterate of the 21st century will not be those who cannot read and write, but those who cannot learn, unlearn, and relearn - Alvin Toffler

Learning is not compulsory but neither is survival. - W. Edwards Deming

Learn avidly. Question repeatedly what you have learned. Analyze it carefully. Then put what you have learned into practice intelligently. - Confucius

Whatsoever one would understand what he hears must hasten to put into practice what he has heard. - St. Gregory The Great

The man who graduates today and stops learning tomorrow is uneducated the day after. - Newton D. Baker (this being my all time favourite, since it makes sense)

Re: Training & Learning

It is important to focus on training and learning. There is also a difference in the way children learn - pedagogy  vs adult learning , called androgogy. Adults prefer to learn by doing things and using what they already know in the learning process. Facilitation is a better word for what we do with adults.

When you internalize the learning there should be a perceptible change in a skill or behaviour as a result of the learning.

Some things we have learnt before we may have to un-learn. That may be why Bernard Shaw was propmted to say: I was born Intelliegnt until I started to atternd school.
