Compensation philosophy communication

Dear all,

How does your company communicate salary ranges to employees? I have seen companies publishing their salary bands on intranet while some releasing through their compensation philosophy modules (internal webinars).

What do you suggest is the apt way and how to do it?

I, personally have never seen or heard of companies published them internally organization wide. Although, a salary range may be communicated for the position for which a candidate has expressed interest and possibly for a promotion and elevation scenario.
